DescriptionTo promote the new features of Microsoft PowerPoint 2010, we created the first PowerPoint Slidefest contest. Microsoft had produced 5 Dos-And-Donts videos for creating PPTs which was used to define the 5 categories for people to enter their PowerPoint in the contest; Animation, Colors, Synopsis, Video and Graphics. A jury at Microsoft chose the winner for each category, there was also a People’s Choice award given to the PowerPoint creator with the most votes. The challenge of this project was to handle the PII properly, but moreover to play the PowerPoint in a web friendly media that would maintain all the animations and videos. After a few prototypes, I decided to convert the PowerPoints into videos keeping all the PowerPoint features but the click between slides (replaced by a set time for each slide). The end result surpassed the client’s goals and our homemade PPTtoWMV service converted the 5000+ entries with no downtime and in an average of 4min/ppt.
I prototyped the PowerPoint converter and was heavily involved in building the website (front and back) along our development team.
